Hyderabad: Hyderabadi Women Sandhya Reddy receives 'Starthfield Citizen of the year 2020' award. She is the first Telugu woman to achieve this Australian honour making all Australian Indians proud.

The citizen of the year is chosen by Strathfield council members, based on the citizen's contribution to society. The public nominates the people, and the nominees are judged based on if their contribution was outstanding, voluntary and beneficial to the community.

Apart from this Reddy actively took part in community activities like 'Clean-up Australia Day', 'Share the Dignity Campaign' 'Blood Donation Camps', 'World Vision', and has also organised chess championship events in school.

Reddy is also an active member of Strathfield State Emergency Services and is currently working with Bushfire Information Line.

Last year the award was given to Anthony D'Agruma, for introducing girl's football team in Strathfield Football Club. His club benefits around 400 local players every week.
