Visakhapatnam: A thick blanket of fog covered Chintapalli in Vizag Agency on 15 November as the temperature, for the first time this winter, dropped to 9 degrees Celsius. The rainfall predicted in the next four to five days may further bring down the Mercury levels.

Photos of the fog have gone viral on social media, drawing visitors to the hills. Youngsters from Vizag and other parts of the region are flocking to the tribal hamlets of Lammasingi and Tajangi, and a few other areas in and around Chintapalli.

The Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) at Chintapalli recorded the temperature at Chintapalli. Based on it, the temperature of surrounding areas of Lammasingi and Tajangi are calculated by deducting 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures are sliding day after day in the Agency area. Around 10 days ago, the minimum temperature at Chintapalli was around 15 degrees Celsius. The Mercury levels will further dip in December and the season's lowest temperature may be recorded in the second week of December, according to RARS.
