67-YO shop owner rapes minor who came to buy snacks

Vijayawada: In a dreadful incident, a 67-year-old-man allegedly raped a 9-year-old girl in a village under Anaparthi police station limits in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Though the incident took place on 8th October, it came to light the next day when the parents identified the crime and lodged a police complaint.

According to cops, the minor girl on Thursday evening had gone to small shop in the village to buy snacks. Noticing no one around the shop, the owner T Satyanarayana Reddy lured the girl by offering her more snacks and took her to his house, located close to the shop.

With no one present in the house, the accused took advantage and alleged raped the minor girl in his house on Thursday evening. When the girl returned to home, her parents noticed blood stains on her dress and body. On questioning, the girl narrated the entire episode to her parents.

Based on the complaint from the victim girl’s parents, the police led by DSP (In-Charge) Ramachandrapuram, DB Reddy registered a case under Sections 376 and 377 Indian Penal Code and relevant sections under POCSO-Act. The police also arrested the accused person. The victim girl was shifted to Government Hospital in Kakinada for medical tests

Minister for Women and Child Welfare Taneti Vanitha on Friday met the victim girl and she has given Rs 25,000 cheque to the parents of the victim. The minister said that it was a heinous crime and the accused was arrested and he will get punishment for the crime.
