Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh’s brother booked for violating lockdown at Edulabad

Hyderabad: Ghatkesar police have booked Edulabad village Sarpanch Kaleru Suresh for violating the lockdown by holding a Panchayat meeting without following social distancing.

Brother of Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, Suresh chaired a meeting of ward members and villagers at a local Panchayat office. During the meeting, social distancing norms were thrown to the wind.

Acting on a tip-off, police teams rushed to the spot and found around 40 people in the office premises.

A suo-moto case has been registered under section 188 and 269 of IPC, Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act against the participants.

Meanwhile, Suresh is also accused of using Panchayat garbage dumping vehicles to transport liquor illegally from his shop. However, police have neither received any complaint nor is there any evidence in this regard.
