Arterial roads in Hyderabad disinfected by GHMC

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has completed disinfecting all arterial roads under its limits. It now aims to disinfect colonies, residential areas, and interiors roads by 15 April.

Under the directorate of enforcement vigilance and disaster management (EV&DM), 19 teams from the disaster response force (DRF) along with 675 personnel worked 24/7 to sanitize the city's road. Apart from these, 18 jetting teams were also working to speed up the process.

Jetting machines were attached to eight DRF vehicles which enabled them to spray disinfectants faster. Sodium Hypochlorite solution was used to disinfect the streets. In addition, teams are also manually disinfecting colonies and slums and three special tankers to spray disinfectant in high-risk areas like hospitals have been pressed into work. The department said that in order to safeguard its personnel, it is providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the workers.

Meanwhile, in Telangana 27 cases were registered on Thursday taking the total number of cases in the state to 154, out of which 17 have been discharged. The state has till now reported nine COVID-19 deaths.

The GHMC has said that it had identified 38 positive patients under its limits. The highest number of patients, 11, were from Secunderabad. The EV&DM department has asked citizens to avoid non-essential movement and to maintain social distancing.
