Congress seeks change of AIMIM seats in Assembly

Hyderabad: Suggesting that MLAs from the opposition parties should seat in one block, the Congress party wrote a letter to the Telangana Assembly Speaker Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.

Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the CLP leader, Mr D Sridhar Babu, Congress MLA, said in the letter that AIMIM MLAs should sit along with the ruling party. AIMIM MLAs are not supposed to sit in the Opposition Block in the House.

Bhatti Vikramarka in the letter further added that “I am writing this letter with a great pain that this August House is not giving its due position to the voice of dissent. We oppose changing of the seats for the CLP leader and its members. Further, our seats have been allotted to AIMIM party MLAs. AIMIM and TRS are friendly parties and the chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on several occasions mentioned about their support. How is it a friendly party is treated as an opposition party. Allotting the Opposition Block where Congress MLAs were sitting, to a friendly party AIMIM is nothing but suppressing the opposition party in the August house.”

With more number of Assembly seats after TRS, the Congress party is the only opposition party in the House for the second term of Telangana Assembly.

“Hence, I request the honourable Speaker to re-allot the Opposition Block to the Congress MLAs in the best interest of the democracy and Parliamentary practices,” added Mr Bhatti Vikramarka.

Speaking in the Assembly on Saturday, Mr Bhatti Vikramarka criticised the TRS government for making the Telangana a debt-ridden state.

“Telangana was with a surplus budget at the time of formation of the state. Whereas now, it’s a debt-ridden state,” he said.

Responding to this, the chief minister Mr K Chandrashekhar Rao said that “Budget has been prepared with prior consultations with economists and suggestions from the experts from several sectors. Telangana is ahead of several states in Indian. I suggest Congress party not to resort to false propaganda.”
