Coronavirus : 20 die in AP cases surge to 722, Kurnool district worst hit

Vijayawada: The COVID-19 death toll in Andhra Pradesh reached 20 after three deaths were reported in the state on 20 April. There was also a surge in the number of Corona virus cases with 75 people testing positive in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in Andhra to 722.

Meanwhile, 27 patients have been cured and were discharged from hospitals in the state. So far, 92 patients have recovered.

The three new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Krishna, Anantapur, and Kurnool districts. Krishna district has reported six deaths so far, Kurnool reported five, Guntur four, Anantapur three, and Nellore has reported two deaths.

Of the 75 new Corona-positive cases, 25 were reported in Chittoor district, 20 in Guntur, and 16 in Kurnool. Krishna district reported five COVID-19 cases, Anantapur four, Kadapa three, while two cases were from East Godavari district.

Kurnool has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state with 174 patients, followed by Guntur with 149, Krishna with 80, and Nellore with 67. Chittoor district has so far reported 53 cases, Prakasam 44, Kadapa 40, West Godavari 35, Anantapur 33, East Godavari 26, and Vizag 21 cases.

The two north coastal Andhra districts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram continue to remain free of Corona virus and have not reported a single case.
