Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported six fresh cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the total cases in the state to 19. Of the total six positive cases, three cases were locally transmitted positive cases.
Of the six new cases, two cases were reported in Guntur Town, two cases were reported in Ongole of Prakasam district, and one each was reported in Kurnool and Krishna districts.
The officials of Medical and Family Welfare Department said that Patient-14 and Patient-15 are contact of patient-10 who went to Delhi and attended a religious meeting and returned to Guntur. Both P-14 and P-15 are native of Guntur and the got into contact with Patient-10 on March 19 and got admitted into hospital on March 26 March 2020 and has been under hospital isolation since then.
Patient-16 is a 60-year old male from Prakasam district has returned from Delhi. Patient- 17 (Contact of patient 16) is a 50-year old female from Prakasam district.
Patient- 18 is a 65-year old male from Krishna district has returned from Mecca.
Kurnool district reported its first Covid-19 positive case. A 23-year-old railway gangman residing at Nosam village near the Kurnool-Kadapa borde, was diagnosed of coronavirus on Saturday.
He visited his hometown in Rajasthan and returned back to the district about a week ago by a train and a bus and he suffered from fever and headache and he was tested coronavirus positive.
Kurnool District Collector G Veerapandiyan said that in adherence to the COVID-19 detection protocols, the 3 km area within the patient's home at Nosam village was designated as a containment zone. All contact to the designated zones will be curtailed with immediate effect and screening of all homes within the earmarked area will be taken up by the district medical and health department immediately
With the latest cases, Vizag and Guntur has four coronavirus positive case, Krishna district has four Covid-19 cases and Prakasam district has three cases.
As many as 496 samples were tested so far in Andhra Pradesh and 19 samples were proved positive and test results of the remaining 65 are pending.
