COVID 19: Telangana reports 1,863 new cases, crosses 90k mark

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 1,863 new COVID cases on Friday taking the overall tally to 90,259 in the state.

Nine people succumbed to the virus on Thursday taking the death toll to 684. The fatality rate in the state is 0.75 percent which is less than the national average of 1.95 percent.

Around 1,912 citizens recovered from the infection on Thursday taking the tally of total recoveries to 66,196. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 73.34 percent, which is approximately 2 percent higher than the national average of 71.16 percent.

The state currently has 23,379 active cases.

The government tested 21,239 citizens for the virus on Thursday. So far 7, 32,435samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 19,728.

Of the total cases, 16,221 are under home isolation. Of those, 84 percent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress.

According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 17.2 percent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.1 percent of the total cases.

The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 percent. 46.13 percent of victims had no comorbidities.

Vacancy of beds:

The state currently has 17,684 vacant beds for COVID patients.

Around 11,544 isolation beds, 4,580 oxygen beds, and 1,560 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals
