DRI seizes Rs 1.48 crores worth ganja, nabbed two

Visakhapatnam: Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Bhubaneswar unit, on Tuesday, seized dry ganja worth Rs 1.48 crores from a truck near Berhampur of Andhra Odisha Border.

Based on concrete information that a ganja laden truck was heading from Visakhapatnam to Berhampur, DRI officials intercepted the truck on NH 16 near Berhampur and recovered the ganja, weighing 988.2 kgs, from the truck.

The contraband was concealed with onion sacks to hoodwink enforcement agencies. "We have also detained two persons, including the driver and assistant driver for further interrogation,” said a DRI official. DRI officials also said that they are trying to ascertain the involvement of any organised gangs in the incident.
