Hyderabad: Panic gripped the patients after a fire broke out at Krishna Children’s hospital at Lakdikapul in Hyderabad on Monday morning.

Though there were no casualties, rescuers evacuated few patients and staff who were in the hospital when the incident occurred.

According to the fire department, they received an SOS call at 2.45 am from the hospital. The fire had broken out on the second floor of the hospital building. A fire tender from the Assembly rushed to the spot and started operation.

Another fire tender from the secretariat was also pressed into service. In less than an hour, the fire was controlled. Mattresses and other furniture were damaged in the fire

It was found that there were a few patients and staff in the hospital at the time of the incident. All of them were evacuated safely. A case has been registered in this regard. A preliminary investigation reveals that short circuit may have caused the fire.

In October last year, a fire at Shine Children’s hospital at LB Nagar claimed the life of an infant and injured seven others. The hospital owner and other staff were arrested for causing death due to negligence. Since then, the vigil of private hospitals has been increased.
