Mahesh Babu to undergo knee surgery

Hyderabad: Superstar Mahesh Babu is over the moon as his recently released film 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' was a blockbuster hit not just in the Telugu-speaking states but also across the world. However, it is being reported that the actor is set to undergo a knee surgery in a couple of days.

Mahesh Babu reportedly injured his knee in 2014 while shooting 'Aagadu' but had been postponing the surgery for several years since he was continuously shooting for films. Now that he has some time on his hands the actor has finally decided to go ahead with the surgery.

In an interview to a leading daily, a source said, "Mahesh had sustained a knee injury while shooting for the title song of 'Aagadu' in Bellary and has been delaying the surgical procedure due to his hectic work schedule. Even though he contemplated surgery after 'SPYder' (2017), things didn’t work out as he did not want to be out of action for a long period. Now that he has completed the promotional activities of his latest release 'Sarileru Neekevvaru', he has decided to go under the knife in the US."

In an earlier interview, Mahesh Babu's wife Namrata Shirodkar said the actor will take a break from films for about three months. According to reports, he wants to spend his time with his family. As soon as he recuperates, he will start shooting for Vamsi Paidipally's next venture.

The actor's latest film, 'Sarileru Neekevvaru', which released on January 11, is still running successfully in theatre and is refusing to slow down. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the family drama stars Mahesh Babu, Rashmika Mandanna, Vijayshanti, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, and Rajendra Prasad in pivotal roles.
