Hyderabad : The ever buzzling Mallepally, a home to over 5000 families and that houses Badi Masjid, considered as the state–head quarters of Tablighi Jamaat, has been sealed off by the Municipal body and Hyderabad police. The area is among the 12 ‘containment clusters’ demarcated by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation following a high number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from these localities.
The GHMC has set up 12 containment clusters to combat Covid-19 spread. They include Ramgopalpet ,Shaikhpet , Red Hills, Malakpet -Santoshnagar, Chandrayangutta , Alwal, Moosapet, Kukatpally, Qutubullapur -Gajularamaram, Mayurinagar, Yosufguda, Chandanagar.
Chief Secretary to the government of Telangana, Somesh Kumar, on April 9th, directed the heath officials to inspect every house in the containment clusters in order to check on more suspect cases. ‘No persons are allowed to move freely in the barricaded area. With this, disinfectant will be sprayed twice daily in the containment areas. Any foreign returnees or persons belonging to other states, who do not have homes, will be allowed to stay in government established quarantine centers. Violators will be dealt strictly’ the Chief Secretary said.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to ensure availability of essential commodities at clusters zone. 'Food and other essentials will be delivered at the door steps of the people falling under the containment clusters' he said.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar told NewsMeter, that, the barricades imposed at these clusters won’t be removed unless the coronavirus curve is flattened. “ The GHMC and Hyderabad police in join operation , sealed certain clusters, Mallepally is one. COVID -19 patients who reside in areas falling under 12 clusters will not be sent home but put up at the quarantine centers, even after they test negative’.
Besides Mallepally, A cluster in Khairatabad has been sealed off since four positive cases were reported from one family. Seven lanes and by-lanes in Khairatabad have been barricades with 8-feet tall gates. So is the case at Hafiz babanagar where 15 from a family were tested positive. In certain clusters individual houses have been cordoned off’. No one will be allowed to move around, provisions are made to deliver all essentials at the doorstep, added the Police Commissioner.
