One tests positive for COVID-19, 534 foreign returnees’ home quarantined in Andhra Pradesh

As many as 79 samples were tested so far and one sample was come out positive in Nellore. Sixty-five samples have tested negative. The test results of the remaining 12 are pending.
Of 809 people, who returned to Andhra Pradesh from Covid-19 affected countries, 247 have completed 28-days home isolation.
Health and Family Welfare department said 28 persons have been admitted to different healthcare facilities and 534 are under home quarantine.
It may be recalled that Andhra Pradesh on Thursday reported its first confirmed case of the new Coronavirus in Nellore Town.
A student, who had returned from Italy on March 6 tested positive for coronavirus. The patient had returned from Italy to Delhi. Later he arrived at Chennai Airport and then traveled to Nellore by road.
State Special Chief Secretary (Health) KS Jawahar Reddy said that the coronavirus infected patient in Nellore has been recovering and he will be discharged from the hospital in the coming days.
"We have issued a set of guidelines for home isolation. Those returning from foreign countries should confine themselves to home for 14 days," Jawahar Reddy said.
On Sunday, the State Election Commission (SEC) postponed local body MPTCs, ZPTCs, Municipality, and Corporations polls for six weeks due to coronavirus scare.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed dissatisfaction with SEC’s decision to postpone the local body elections. He alleged that State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar has used the Coronavirus issue as an excuse at the behest of TDP’s chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
