Principal thrashes Class 6 boy for tearing page off book in Andhra

Challapalli: A sixth standard student suffered injuries after he was allegedly mercilessly thrashed by the principal at a private residential school in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

The corporal punishment was doled out to K Mouli Kumar at Sri Chaitanya School in Challapalli of Krishna district for tearing a page off a book. The child's father has filed a police complaint against the principal.

According to reports, school principal K Suresh Kumar received a complaint from the staff that Mouli Kumar had yanked a sheet from a book and also ignored the instructions of his teachers. Angry over the alleged incident, Suresh beat the student black and blue.

Mouli Kumar showed the injury marks on his hands and a few places on his body. The boy told to media that Suresh had been harassing the students for silly reasons. The injured boy has been admitted to a hospital at Challapalli.

Sources said that officials from the Education Department and the police would visit the school to ascertain what exactly happened there. If they have sufficient reason to believe that the principal is at fault, he will be booked. In that case, the Education Department will also issue a show-cause notice to the school.
