Rs 9.55L cash looted from SBI ATM in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Unidentified persons using gas cutters broke open an ATM of the State Bank of India at Sundarnagar near the Old Dairy Farm under Arilova police station limits in Vizag city and stole Rs 9.55 lakh cash. The incident took place after Wednesday midnight. The cash in the ATM was filled by the Writer Safeguard Pvt ltd, who replenishes the cash in SBI ATMs.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes), V Suresh Babu, said the persons cut off the CCTV connection at the ATM before entering and later pulled down the shutters. They later cut open the machine open using gas cutters and removed all the cash.

The CCTV footage, before they entered the premises, is not clear and has been sent to IT experts. The DCP said special teams have been formed to nab the persons. The gas cutting equipment left by them was also being checked to identify the agency which supplied or sold it to the thieves.
