RTC jobs 2019 drive begins
Staff ratio of 5:3 highest in India;
Rs 900 cr-loss annually, say management
Hyderabad: RTC jobs 2019 drive has begun. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday directed the TSRTC management to speed up the process of recruitmen, to fill the posts vacated by the dismissed employees who are striking.
“We’re conducting breath analyser test on private drivers and only then allowing them to drive the buses. Almost 60 per cent of the buses are being used,” said a senior official at Bus Bhavan .Telangana agriculture minister Niranjan Reddy said that the RTC unions were working on a secret agenda. He advised employees not to come under the influence of unions. “The BJP and the Congress is further escalating the problem. I ask the BJP to implement the same demands in their states. Did Congress implement the demands when it was in power? The demands of the unions are unpractical. RTC employees are cutting the branch on which they're sitting,” said the minister.
The TSRTC management said that the organisation is suffering Rs 900 crore loss per annum. “The staff ratio of buses is 5:3, the highest in the country. Barring drivers and conductors, there is additional staff in the administrative department. We are operating Palle Velugu buses to 9,377 villages in Telangana. The state government has also noticed that over 250 managerial staff are receiving very high salaries. Some of them are receiving salaries higher than the Chief Secretary,” said an official.
