Six killed as rain fury continues in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Rains continue to wreak havoc in Hyderabad with six more people losing lives on Saturday night.

Four people died of electrocution in separate incidents at Balanagar, Uppal, Chandrayanagutta, and Malakpet. A boy slipped into a pit at Jubilee Hills, while a girl died in a wall collapse at Mangalhat.

Five-year-old Sidhu was playing near his house at Durgabhavani Nagar when he entered the construction site. Several pits dug for laying pillars, were filled with water. Sidhu accidentally fell into one of the pits and drowned. His body was later retrieved.

Mohd Rehan, 17, from Chandrayanagutta died of electrocution when he was shifting household articles from the ground floor to the first floor. While removing connections of the inverter, he received an electric shock and died.

L Venkata Naidu, 31, owner of SS engineering works, was electrocuted inside his workshop at Balanagar. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on Sunday morning. He had come to the workshop on Sunday to drain out rainwater.

Six-year-old Adiba Begum died after a portion of her house’s wall collapsed at the RK Pet area under Mangalhat Police Station on Saturday night. Her mother and siblings escaped with minor injuries.

D Thammaiah, 52, a coolie died of electrocution on Saturday night. The incident happened near Yashoda hospital in Malakpet.
