Student commits suicide after boy threatens to leak photos online

East Godavari: A second-year intermediate student committed suicide at Moripadu village under Sakhinetipalli Mandal in East Godavari district after a boy allegedly harassed her and threatened to post her photos on social networking sites.

The student, Chinni, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her residence. In her suicide note, which was addressed to her mother, she said she had not made any mistake and wanted to live. She said a boy had asked her to come to his room and threatened to post her photos online. She decided to commit suicide to keep the photos a secret, she wrote.

The East Godavari police visited the crime scene and recovered the suicide letter. The victim did not mention the name of the boy. The police have registered a case and an investigation is on to ascertain the exact reasons behind her suicide. Meanwhile, representatives of various women’s organisations staged a protest demanding action against the boy.
