Hyderabad: A teenager's brave act of jumping from a speeding auto-rickshaw, risking her life, saved her from an alleged rape bid made by the auto driver and his Omani friend at Amangal in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday evening. She not only foiled their rape attempt on her but also helped police nab the criminals.
Police on Friday arrested auto driver Mohd Sajeed and his relative Imran Hussain Murad Al-Baushi, an Omani national.
Though the girl sustained injuries in the attempt, she received appreciation for her bravery, making her an inspiration for all girls who fight such criminals in their day to day lives.
According to police, the girl, a native of Narlakunta Thanda in Kadthal Mandal, is studying SSC at Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalayam(Residential school) in Amnagal town. On Thursday as she was not feeling well, she got permission from her hostel supervisor to go home. As she was waiting for a vehicle on the main road, she noticed an auto-rickshaw and stopped it.
Sajeed was behind the wheel while Hussain was in the passenger seat. The moment the girl boarded the vehicle, they allegedly started discussing how to molest her. Even before the girl could react, Hussain touched her inappropriately and misbehaved with her. All this happened while the vehicle was in motion.
Suspecting danger ahead, without wasting any time, she jumped out of the moving vehicle and landed on the main road with injuries. Passersby rushed to her rescue, intercepted the vehicle and nabbed the duo from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, patrolling staff also rushed to the spot and rescued the child and shifted her to the police station. The suspects were shifted to a police station and their vehicle was seized.
