Three Kendriya Vidyalaya boys drown to death at Sangareddy

Hyderabad: Tragedy befell Sangareddy district of Telangana when three class VIII students died while trying to save each other from drowning in a lake on Tuesday

The victims were identified as Sandeep, Mahipal and Pallav, all class VIII students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2 of the Air Force Academy at Dundigal. The trio had come to the lake with other friends for a swim.

Police said the boys along with three more friends, all belonging to Annaram village of Gummadidala Mandal, had gone for swimming at the Kotha Cheruvu on the outskirts of Annaram village.

Sandeep first jumped into the lake but could not push through. As he could not swim, Mahipal and Pallav Kumar jumped into the water to rescue him. They too could not pull him out and in turn, they also lost balance and drowned.

After noticing that the three boys are drowning, their friends rushed to the village and informed the people about the incident. Villagers alerted police and rushed to the lake. Later at night, the bodies of three boys were fished out from the lake.

Police said that the boys were amateur swimmers. Police said they could not negotiate the depth of the lake and its flow. A case has been registered at Gummadidala police station and the bodies will be handed over to the family after postmortem.
