Upset over family traditions, two lovers commit suicide in Vikarabad

Hyderabad: Two students, who were allegedly in a relationship, committed suicide after being upset over the family tradition in Vikarabad district.

Mamatha, 20, and Prashanth 19 were found hanging from the ceiling in their homes on Thursday morning.

Hailing from Kamunipally in Kulkacharla, Mamatha and Prashanth were distant relatives. While Mamatha was studying in the government college, Prashanth was studying in a private college.

Investigation has revealed that the duo had fallen in love a couple of years ago, but did not inform their families. Upset over the family tradition and the problems involved in their marriage, they decided to end their lives, police officials said.

Even their families have told police that they were not aware of their relationship. Police have registered a case at Kulkacharla police station and started investigation. No suicide notes were found at the spot, said police.
