Vizag cops arrest five in Rs. 10-crore land grabbing scam

Visakhapatnam: The Vizag city police arrested five persons on 6 September who were involved in a land-grabbing scam. The land, worth over Rs. 10 crore, was restored to its rightful owner.

The PM Palem police have identified the arrested persons as Jami Satya Ravi Kishore alias Ganta Ravi Kishore, Pilla Ramu, Pothina Yallayamma, Pothina alias Potnuri Narasayamma, and Yeddipilli Paidikonda. All are residents of Visakhapatnam city.

R. Ravi Shankar Reddy, the ACP (north), said Datti Laxmanarao and five others had purchased the land in 2003 by way of registered sale deeds. The property is located at Durganagar in Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam. Later, they constructed a compound wall.

According to the police, the accused men forged the property documents, executed a deed of partition, and got it registered at the sub-registrar's office at Dwarakanagar. The landgrabbers trespassed on the property, damaged part of the compound wall, and constructed a thatched shed. The main accused in the case, Ravi Kishore, erected a board of ownership and employed some workers to keep watch.

The ACP said they arrested all six accused persons and they will be produced in the court for judicial custody.
