The Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC), operated by INCOIS, issues tsunami alerts within 10 minutes, benefiting India and 28 Indian Ocean countries.
INCOIS developed the Search and Rescue Aided Tool (SARAT) for maritime rescues and the SynOPS platform for real-time disaster response coordination.
Advisories during Cyclones Phailin (2013) and Hudhud (2014) enabled timely evacuations, significantly reducing risks to coastal populations.
UNESCO recognizes INCOIS as a Tsunami Service Provider. It has also won the Geospatial World Excellence in Maritime Services Award (2024) and the Disaster Risk Reduction Excellence Award (2021).
