Union Earth Sciences Minister Jitendra Singh says India is the sixth country to have its own deep sea mission.

Deep sea mission is about mineral exploration, flora and fauna and also conservation of marine biodiversity, says Singh.

National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has developed Matsyayaan 6000, which can dive 6,000 metres deep into the ocean.
