As part of Vana Mahotsav 2025, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, planted fruit-bearing and shade-giving saplings near the reptile house, led by senior forest officials Dr. C. Suvarna, IFS (PCCF, HoFF), and Elusing Meru, IFS (PCCF, Wildlife).
A pair of two-year-old Serval Cats, native to Africa, were introduced to the Small Cats Enclosure, bringing the zoo’s species count to 195. The cats can live up to 16 years in captivity.
Dr. Suvarna urged citizens to plant a tree in honour of their mothers, promoting the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” to enhance the state’s green cover.
The revamped Fossil Park Garden, shaped like the map of Telangana and showcasing native plant species, was inaugurated during the event.
The event reinforces the zoo’s commitment to wildlife conservation, captive breeding, and biodiversity education in Telangana.
