Who is directing the Telugu remake of Asuran?

Hyderabad: It is known that Venkatesh Daggubati has been roped in to play the lead actor in Telugu remake of Tamil film Asuran, which has Dhanush in it. Asuran has been directed by Vetrimaaran and the kind of craze and positive response the film has gained is amazing. The film which released during Dasara has had a good collection at the box office. Venkatesh’s brother Suresh Babu and Kalaipuli S Thanu are producing the film under V Creations and Suresh Productions banners.

The makers of the film haven’t revealed anything else about the film, but that Venkatesh will be playing the lead role. Venkatesh has been busy wrapping up Venky Mama and the film is currently under post-production and is slated for release on January 11. The film is directed by Bobby (KS Ravindra) and has Naga Chaitanya, Payal Rajput and Raashi Khanna in lead roles. Once the film is released, Venkatesh will begin shooting for the Telugu remake of Asuran.

So far, it is said that no director has been finalised to direct this remake project. Venkatesh is scouting for the right director. Also, it is said that he is in talks with director Ohmkar of Raju Gari Gadhi fame to make this film.

Manju Warrier has played the leading lady in the original version of Asuran, which marked her Tamil debut. So to have someone who can look closer to the age of Venkatesh and perform better, it is said that Shriya Sharan is in talks to be roped in for this film. But nothing has been confirmed till now and an official announcement is awaited.

Venkatesh has agreed to team with Tharun Bhascker of Meeku Mathrame Cheptha fame and is going to play the lead role in Tharun’s directorial. So it is not yet known which project will go on floors first.
