Hyderabad: On October 30, a 20-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after being burnt by stalkers in Bihar's Vaishali district.

Amidst this, a photograph of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav participating in a candlelight march is viral on social media. Users claim Tejashwi is leading a march to demand justice for the Bihar victim.

FACT CHECK:

The claim that Yadav was marching and demanding justice for the Bihar victim is false.

It should be noted that none of the people in the image are wearing a mask (a precaution against COVID19), thus, indicating, the picture might not be from 2020.

NewsMeter then performed a keyword search and found a report by Zee News from December 2018 that carried the same image. It reports that Yadav led a candle march against the declining law and order situation in Bihar. "He was joined by hundreds of businessmen and traders during the candle march in Bihar's capital demanding justice for the murdered young businessman", reads the article.

The same was also reported by ABP News and News Nation. According to the News Nation report, the protest took place in Patna in 2018. Many business organizations and common people took out a candle march on the streets.

Apart from this, On December 24, 2018, Tejashwi Yadav had tweeted about the same protest where the viral photo can be seen.

Evidently, the claim that Yadav was marching and demanding justice for the victim is false.
