This comes after the Supreme Court stayed the order of the Uttarakhand High Court to evict 4,000 families residing on railways lands in Haldwani.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the viral photo is from Kolkata and dates back to 2013.

On performing a reverse image search of the photo, we found it in an article published by ABC News in 2016. The credit for the photo is given to Getty Images.

As per the caption, the photo shows the lives of the slum-dwellers in Kolkata.

Taking a cue from this, we searched for the photo on Getty Images and found that it was published on 12 December 2013. The caption reads, "People get on with their lives in a slum on the railway tracks as commuter train goes past on December 12, 2013, in Kolkata, India. Almost one-third of the Kolkata population lives in slums and a further 70,000 are homeless."

It is evident that the photo shows a slum in Kolkata. Hence, we conclude that the claim that the photo shows encroachment in Haldwani is false.
