Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the video is not related to the Shaligram stones for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya or a Hindutva rally in Maharashtra. The video dates back to 2022 and shows Hanuman Sobha Yatra in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
On performing a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found a still from the video in an article published by News18 on 26 April 2022. According to the report, the video was shot during a Hanuman Sobha Yatra in Nellore on 24 April 2022. Sunil Deodhar, BJP’s co-in-charge for Andhra Pradesh at that time, had alleged stone pelting on Yatra from a mosque.
On 27 April 2022, The Quint reported the incident in an article titled “BJP Alleges Stone-Pelting at Hanuman Shobha Yatra in AP’s Nellore, Police Deny.” The report quoted the superintendent of Nellore police Ch. Vijayao Rao saying, “At one point, they crossed a mosque. When it reached the mosque, the DJ was made a little louder, and bike horns were made. Slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ were chanted. The youth inside the mosque also said “Allahu Akbar.” Except for that, there was no throwing of stones or bottles and no clashes. No such instances happened.”
It is evident that a video of the Hanuman Sobha Yatra in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, is being shared with misleading claims. Hence, we conclude that the video neither shows Muslims disrupting the “Divshila Yatra” nor the Hindutva rally in Maharashtra.
