Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false as there is no proven drug to cure diabetes as of now. The clips used to generate the viral video have been digitally altered using voice cloning.

The viral video allegedly showing President Droupadi Murmu addressing the Parliament with background audio suggesting that certain medicines cured her diabetes is digitally edited.

Through a reverse image search on Google using keyframes from the video, we found the original version of the video on Sansad TV’s YouTube channel, posted on July 27, 2022. The footage captures the president’s swearing-in ceremony, devoid of any mention of diabetes or associated medication in her speech.

Here, the viral clip could be spotted at the timestamp of 0.42 seconds in the YouTube video.

The second clip purportedly shows Aaj Tak anchor Anjana Om Kashyap discussing a website offering medicines that claim to cure diabetes, attributing Dr Abhinash Mishra as the medical professional who invented the drug. We closely analysed the video and found certain discrepancies such as unmatched lip movements.

Moving on, the man featured in the subsequent two clips, purportedly Dr Abhilash Mishra was identified as Dr Atul Gawande, a professor at Harvard School of Public Health.

Through a thorough reverse image search on Google, the original videos were traced. We found the first clip featuring Dr Gawande in a CNBC interview shared on March 2, 2021, where Dr Gawande could be seen discussing the persistent risks of Covid-19 infection in public spaces.

The next video was shared by BBC Radio 4 on December 1, 2014, featuring him speaking about the role of clinicians.

Notably, in neither of these videos does Dr Gawande mention anything related to diabetes or its medication.

The last clip featuring Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath promoting medicines linked to diabetes in an interview with two Aaj Tak anchors has been identified as digitally altered.

Through a keyword search on Google using relevant keywords we found a YouTube video published on the Aaj Tak YouTube channel on January 16, 2024. The interview, anchored by Sweta Singh and Anjana Kashyap was focused on discussions surrounding the new Ram temple in Ayodhya and its consecration ceremony with absolutely no mention of any diabetes-related medication during the entirety of the interview.

Hence, it is evident that the viral compilation is a digitally altered video and does not show PresidentVideo of president Droupadi Murmu, UP CM Yogi promoting diabetes drug is digitally altered Droupadi Murmu, anchor Anjana Kashyap and UP CM Yogi Adityanath promoting a diabetes drug.
