No water, power shortage: Telangana govt rebuts OU chief warden; issues show cause notice

Hyderabad: Setting records straight, the Telangana government today clarified that there is no shortage of water and electricity in Osmania University.

The government also asked the students not to panic.




The clarification comes a day after news went viral on the circular issued by the Chief Warden regarding purported water and electricity shortage in the university




It is clarified that there is no such shortages exist within the university premises

The Chief Warden is also directed to promptly provide a detailed clarification regarding the rationale behind the issuance of the circular.

CM Revanth Reddy took to X slamming BRS chief KCR for spreading false news and misleading the public in Suryapet and Mahabubnagar meetings.

Revanth Reddy reminded how in May 2023, the University chief warden had issued a similar notice regarding closure of the hostels and mess for the summer vacation (from May 12 to June 5). Even in that notice, the chief warden mentioned of shortage of electricity and drinking water




Speaking to the media, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka asked the University students in Osmania not to worry about the notice. There is no need to evacuate the campus.

"A show cause notice has been issued to an officer who gave a false statement about the shortage of electricity and drinking water in OU," he said.

"This is your elected public government. We have already issued some notifications for jobs in our government, stay on the hunt for jobs. You have lost a lot under the BRS regime for the last 10 years. Don't fall for the opposition leaders, all the allegations they make are untrue," said Bhatti.

Further, the TSSPDCL issued a clarification stating there was a continuous and uninterrupted power supply to the University.
