BJP leader Tejasvi Surya says not allowed to enter OU; police retort `fake news

Hyderabad: A war of words has broken out between BJP and police after former accused the later of not allowing BJYM chief and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya to enter Osmania University in Hyderabad.

BJYM workers claimed that the road at the NCC gate was barricaded and blocked with barbed fences, a charge debunked by the police."We wanted to visit the University and pay respects to the Telangana Martyrs. But KCR has instructed his police to block us and not allow us to enter the campus," alleged Tejasvi.

However, the police were quick to clarify that they did not stop anyone from entering the campus.

"Fake news that MP Bengaluru Tejasvi Surya was stopped by the Police at the OU Campus gate is circulating in some sections of the media and social media. It is hereby clarified that no such incident of the stoppage by the police or clash with police has happened in the OU Campus. The MP, along with his followers went inside the campus and conducted a meeting peacefully, at the Arts College Building," said Dy. Commissioner of Police, East Zone, Hyderabad

He urged the people not to spread the fake news and claimed that the campaign for the GHMC elections by various political parties is being held in a free and fair manner.

Later Tejasvi Surya accompanied by a huge number of supporters led the march from the NCC gate to the Arts College Campus. He addressing the crowd, Tejasvi Surya said hundreds of people, especially the youth made supreme sacrifices for the statehood of Telangana. "The state is not a property of a single-family. It was a result of sacrifices and challenges. It belonged to every citizen of the state." he said.

Coming down heavily on KCR, Tejasvi said he promised heaven to the people, but failed to deliver."KC Ravu, KT Ravu, Harish Ravu, KK Ravu, Prajalaku emi Ravu" he quoted in Telugu indicating people did not do anything in Telangana. He said the youth of the state are highly talented, hardworking, and accomplished.

"Take any global companies; the youth of Telangana are contributing to their success. Students of Telangana top entrance tests in the country. There is no dearth of talent, but a shortage of opportunities that the youth of this state are facing now." he said.

He gave a call to join the movement of building new Hyderabad under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
