Formula E: Jean-Eric Vergne of DS Penske wins Hyderabad E-Prix

Hyderabad: Hyderabad: Two-time Formula E world champion Jean-Eric Vergne, part of the American racing outfit DS Penske, won Formula E 2023 Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix on Saturday. Telangana Minister of information technology, industries and commerce KTR gave away the trophy to the winners.

Nick Cassidy of Envision Racing finished second (P2) and Antonio Felix Da Costa racing for TAG Heur Porsche stood third, rounding the podium spots. Union Minister for Sports Anurag Singh Thakur presented them the winning trophy.

Speaking after the race, Vergne explained his experience in India and gave a few suggestions for the track.

Jean-Eric Vergne is a French professional racing driver who currently competes in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. He has been part of the Formula E series since its inception in 2014 and has established himself as one of the top drivers in the championship. He became the 2017–18 ABB Formula E Champion after clinching the fifth spot in the New York ePrix in 2018 and he became the first Formula E driver to win two consecutive championships after his repeat success in the 2018–19 season.

Team Mahindra Racing’s race ended fruitfully after its drivers were able to score points. But it was a disappointing result for Jaguar TCS Racing which was actually calling the Hyderabad E-Prix its “second” home race, given it’s the home of its parent company Tata.

A total of 11 teams competed on the street circuit of Hyderabad—Avalanche Andretti Formula E, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, NEOM McLaren Formula E Team, Envision Racing, Jaguar TCS Racing, Mahindra Racing, DS Penske, Nissan Formula E Team, Maserati MSG Racing, NIO 333 Racing, and ABT CUPRA Formula E Team.
