101 YO Tirupati women wins battle against COVID; doctors touch her feet

Tirupati : In what could be viewed as a a ray of hope for COVID patients battling the virus across the world, a 101- year-old-year woman from the temple town of India has recovered. The lady who is a year older than a century was discharged from a COVID-19 hospital in Tirupati of Andhra Pradesh on 25th July.

The women, P Mangamma, from Tirupati City tested positive for the Coronavirus a few weeks back and she was admitted to Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences - Sri Padmavathi Mahila Medical College State Covid-19 hospital for treatment.

Superintendent of SVIMS Dr. R Ram said that considering the age of the patient, Mangamma was put under special care. A team of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff of the hospital monitored her health round the clock.

The 101-year-old woman did not lose hope all through the treatment period" he said. This case brings hope to others and accolades to the doctors at the Tirupati hospital for having successfully treated a 101 year old.

While her exit on Saturday was emotional as the medical and supporting staff gave her a tearful goodbye. Dr Ram touched the woman's feet while the other saluted her for winning against the virus.

The family members of the woman expressed their gratitude towards SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr B Vengamma and other staff of SVIMS for providing support and ensuring her recovery. The woman returned to her home on Saturday night with cheers on her face.
