1,050 kg ganja worth Rs 2.62 cr seized in Hyd, one person arrested

Hyderabad: The officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Hyderabad zonal unit, intercepted a goods carriage vehicle on the outskirts of the city and arrested one person under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and seized 1,050 kg of ganja, the approximate value of which in the grey market is Rs 2.62 crore. The drug was found concealed under the goods.
The vehicle was carrying empty plastic crates and on a detailed examination of the cargo area, bags of cannabis were found concealed behind them.
Preliminary investigation by the officials indicated that the ganja was sourced from Visakhapatnam Agency area and was being sent to Maharashtra.
The contraband and the vehicle were seized by the Revenue Intelligence officials.
