Hyderabad: Hyderabad police have expedited the contact tracing of the Head constable from Saifabad police station who was tested positive for COVID 19 on Monday.

Initially, his ten family members were shifted to quarantine. Besides, his colleagues around 12 other persons were advised to remain under home quarantine. Their samples have been collected and sent for tests.

Meanwhile, Saifabad police station was disinfected on Tuesday and the checkpoint, where he was posted during the lockdown, was also temporarily closed.

It was found that the head constable was very religious and regular to duty also. While he was not assigned any duties at the police station, he was mostly posted on security duties at police pickets. Officials said that most of the time, he was posted at the picket under Telugu Talli flyover near the tank bund.

While the source is yet to be traced, it is suspected that he had contracted the virus from someone who had returned from Delhi and visited the mosques at Punjagutta and Saifabad areas.

Meanwhile, Ajay Goutam, a resident of Delhi, has moved the Supreme Court demanding a ban on the activities of Tablighi Jamaat. He also urged the court to issue orders to demolish the building from where the organization was functioning.

He also urged the court to order a CBI inquiry into the activities of the organization and the alleged irregularities they were involved in. He also sought directions from the court for strict action against the leaders, public representatives and police department for failing to implement the lockdown orders.
