130 cases solved in Vizag with the arrest of 3 persons

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Vizag city police on Thursday arrested a three-member gang, involved in 130 cases of burgling two-wheelers under various police stations limits in Vizag city. The burglars stole bikes in Vizag city and also from rural areas in Vizag. Once they acquired these two-wheelers, they sold them at throwaway prices.

The arrested were identified as V Verayya Chowdary (37), R Nageswara Rao (32) and D Bobby (37), all residents of Parawada area in Vizag city. The police have launched a manhunt for the other members of the gang. The police have recovered 130 bikes made by various companies (Hero, Honda, Bajaj and a few others), some spare parts, Rs 90,000 in cash and some documents from the Gangurde.

Commissioner of Police, RK Meena said that with a series of bike theft cases registered at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and Gajuwaka areas in Vizag city, they have formed a special team led by Inspector of Police, P Suryanarayana.

The trio had stolen bikes by using masters’ keys (fake keys) from 2013 till 2019. Our investigation has also revealed that the gang has stolen over 120 bikes in Hyderabad, Rajahmundry and few other areas in the past, RK Meena added.
