130 with travel history to coronavirus  hit countries untraceable in AP

Nellore: More than 130 people with travel history to the coronavirus affected countries have gone missing in Andhra Pradesh.

Around 300 corona suspected persons are under observation in the state. As per protocol, every suspect must be initially quarantined for 14 days at their residence. The quarantine period of 14 days could be extended if necessary.

Around 10,000 people were screened at airports and ports in the state. Around 57 were having flu-like symptoms. Around 300 persons have been kept under observation.

Ten persons have been shifted to the hospital for further investigation. Out of 48 samples collected till Wednesday, 44 have tested negative.

The first case reported in Nellore was from Italy. He was among the 75 people who traveled to Andhra Pradesh. He is a student and arrived in the city on March 6. He was initially quarantined and later sent to the GGH for further investigations. Pune based National Institute of Virology has now confirmed his tests.

Tirupati based SVIMS is the nodal center for conducting the tests. State Government has set up a round-the-clock control room in Vijayawada. It has also given out phone number 0866-2410978 on which people could contact doctors and health workers for help.
