19YO navy sailor electrocuted on INS Rajput in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Tragedy struck the Indian Navy on Sunday when a 19-year-old sailor was electrocuted to death while fixing the blowers abroad the INS Rajput in the Vizag city.

Identified as R Janjir of Rajasthan, he was working as a sailor in the Mechanic Engineering wing (2nd Class) on Indian Naval ship (INS) Rajput.

Though the exact reasons for the mishap are yet to ascertain, the police said that Janjir was electrocuted while he was maintaining the water levels at the blowers in the ship on Sunday.

Naval personnel shifted Janjir to INHS Kalyani hospital in Vizag city. However, he was declared dead by the medical team at the hospital.

Malkapuram police have registered a case under Section 175 of CrPC (Unnatural Death) and cops have visited the spot to ascertain the exact reasons behind the death.

Police said that the body will be shifted to the morgue for autopsy.

The INS Rajput is a guided-missile destroyer and the lead ship of the Rajput class of the Indian Navy.
