Valentines Day 2020: Tollywood is all about love

Hyderabad: For a change, love is the new flavour of Tollywood in 2020. Seemingly making up for last year's dearth of love stories, Tollywood has lined up intense romantic thrillers for release in 2020.

World Famous Lover

Starting with 'World Famous Lover’, this movie with a smoldering tempest of emotions is all set to release today on the occasion of Valentine’s Day

Going by trailer and promotional interviews, it is a mystery and the movie is an analogy of love stories at four different stages in one man’s life. Vijay is seen playing four different characters or at least that is what one can perceive from his looks. The trailer doesn’t whisper but shouts out loud that it is a film that is all about trials, turbulence and trance of being madly in love.

The movie has four different actresses, Raashi Khanna, Aishwarya Rajesh, Catherine Tresa and Izabelle Leite. The movie is directed by Kranthi Madhav of Malli Malli Idhi Rani Roju fame. It is bankrolled by KA Vallabha under Creative Commercial Banner.

Love Story

Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer Love Story is yet another romantic flick that all the Telugu filmgoers are waiting with bated breath.

The first looks of the movie tell us that it is a heartwarming story of two people who come from a village to a city. The movie is being directed by Sekhar Kammula, who is known for narrating endearing and effulgent love stories like Fida, Godavari, and Anand etc. The verité style of direction has earned him a lot of loyal followers.

According to some reports, Sekhar Kammula refused to create sets and instead preferred to shoot the movie in the interiors of Telangana. Naga Chaitanya was trained to speak the Telangana dialect by the director himself. The movie is produced by Narayan Das K Naranag and Pushkar Ram Mohan under Sree Venkateswara Cinemas banner. The movie is likely to be released in the first week of April.

Jaan

Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer 'Jaan’ is another intense love story that Tollywood is banking on. Initially, there was a misconception that the movie was a period drama but it was later confirmed that it is an alluring love story set in European backdrop. No detail with regards to this movie is being revealed.

In fact, Prabahas has put a ban on bringing phones and camera to the sets. Maine Pyaar Kiya fame, Bhagyashree is also a part of the film. The makers haven’t confirmed but it is rumoured that Mithun Chakraborthy is being roped in to play the antagonist. The movie is being directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, while it is being bankrolled by UV Creations. The movie is said to be a 2020 release.

Chay

Rashmika Naga Chaitanya starrer 'Chay’ is another tale of love, blanketed with emotions revolving around family. Rashmika Mandanna was recently roped in to play the female lead. The movie is still in pre-production stage and is being produced by 14 Reels Plus. Chay is going on floors after wrapping up Love Story. This year Chaitanya’s two romantic thrillers will hit the screens.

Last year Tollywood largely banked on tried and tested boy meets girl formula for the majority of their releases. Crime thrillers such as Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya and Gang Leader were some of the biggest hits at the box office last year. C/o Kancherapalam opened up a never before seen style of storytelling and received amazing reviews from both moviegoers and critics. Last year also saw the release of a large number of biopics including NTR and Savitri.

Majili was the only movie to release last year from the romance genre. Come 2020, there is a waft of love and harmony in the air
