Hyderabad: Poor health due to obesity and thyroid led an engineering student to commit suicide in Hyderabad on 9 April. The 21-year-old Kukkala Pooja Ambica jumped from her apartment building at Serilingampally. She sustained multiple injuries and died on the spot, the police said.
Pooja was a third-year engineering student who also worked part-time for an online trading agency at Chandanagar. For a very long time, she had been suffering from obesity and thyroid and was getting treatment for the same. However, her health was not improving. A few days ago, she had also told her neighbors that she was unable to support her parents.
On Thursday morning, while everyone was asleep, the apartment watchman heard a loud noise. When he rushed to the inspect, he found a woman lying in a pool of blood. He identified the victim and informed her parents who told the police that she could have taken the extreme step because of her health issues.
The Chandanagar police have registered a case of suspicious death and started an investigation. The victim did not leave a suicide note so they have also seized her mobile phone and other belongings.
