25 injured as truck rams into RTC bus at Devarakonda

Nalgonda: More than 25 passengers travelling in a TSRTC bus sustained injuries while around 10 escaped unhurt in an accident at Devarakonda on Wednesday.

According to sources, the bus under hire to RTC and belonging to Devarakonda depot was proceeding to Nalgonda carrying 35 passengers. When the vehicle reached PA pally on the Nagarjuna Sagar highway, a speeding truck came on its way. In an attempt to avoid crashing into the truck, the bus driver swerved the vehicle to the left, which went way into the left and off the road.

The truck, which was at a high speed, could not be controlled and came ahead, resulting in a head-on collision leaving both vehicles badly damaged.

Alerted by the unhurt passengers, police and ambulance rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Devarakonda government hospital. As traffic movement on the stretch came to a halt, police cleared the damaged vehicles and regulated the traffic flow. A case has also been registered and investigation is underway, said police officials.
