Hyderabad: More than 350 passengers who were travelling to Jeddah for Umrah, were stuck for 24 hours at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), in Hyderabad when the Air India flight on which they were supposed to travel on was delayed on Saturday.
The annoyed passengers were seen protesting at the Hyderabad airport and shouting slogans ‘Air India down down’.
According to Air India officials, the delay occurred due to a technical issue. The flight took off around 3 am in the early hours of Sunday. The 350 passengers who were not from Hyderabad were provided hotel accommodation and transport.
Air India official spokesperson said, “There was a delay due to a technical issue. Since safety is our highest priority in Air India, we had to wait till the engineering team cleared the aircraft.”
Reacting to the delay of the Air India flight, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted, “@airindiain @HardeepSPuri sir this has been a traumatic experience for Umrah passengers (sic).”
