Visakhapatnam: Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1,015 kg ganja valued at Rs1.52 crore that was being transported illegally on Tuesday. The driver of the truck was taken into custody.
Based on tip-off officials intercepted the vehicle near NAD Junction in Vizag city on Tuesday. While searching the vehicle officials did not find the ganja. However, on a further search of the truck, they noticed a specially designed luggage cabin between the driver's cabin and the luggage cabin. When they opened the cabin they found 365 ganja packets. During interrogation, the driver revealed that the ganja was being transported from Vizag Agency to Madhya Pradesh.
DRI officials registered a case under various sections of the NDPS Act and investigation is on to nab few others in connection with the case.
