3YO from East Godavari tested corona +VE, infected from house owner

Amaravathi :A three-year-old girl from Kathipudi area of East Godavari district has become the youngest person to test positive for coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh.

The state reported 18 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday taking the tally to 381.

Of the total 18 new cases, Guntur district reported 7, East Godavari 5, Kurnool, Anantapur, and Prakasam districts 2 cases each.

In East Godavari district, as many as five women, including a 3-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl have been tested COVID-19 positive. The five women have contracted the infection from a 38-year-old patient.

Medical and Family Welfare said the 38-year-old-man had concealed COVID-19 symptoms and underwent treatment at a private hospital on Thursday.

He was tested COVID-19 positive on Thursday night. Police said the 38-year-old man is a native of Vizag district who had visited parts of East Godavari district on March 25.

Sources said that five of over 20 family members of the 38-year-old patient were tested COVID-19 positive. This includes his 10-year-old daughter. Others who tested positive were his tenants. They include 35-year-old, 29-year-old and 50-year-old women besides a three-year-old girl.

East Godavari Superintendent of police Adnan Nayeem Asmi said they have registered a case against 38-year-old patient under section 188 of IPC for concealing the COVID-19 symptoms.

Medical and Family Welfare Department on Friday identified as many as 133 containment clusters in the state. Police, Revenue, and Health department workers will conduct a door-to-door survey and identify people with COVID-19 symptoms.
