42 percent of Andhras COVID-19 deaths reported during Unlock 1.0

Vijayawada: Over three months after the first Covid-19 case was reported from Nellore on March 12 in Andhra Pradesh, the state has been witnessing many firsts.

Interestingly, over 56 per cent (4,776) of total 8,452 Covid-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh were reported during the last 20 days, that is since Unlock 1.0 came into effect from June 1, when restrictions imposed during shutdown were relaxed outside the Covid-19 containment zones.

The officials of medical and family welfare department said that from June 1 to 20, as many as 4,776 cases were reported in the state.

Before the lockdown (till March 24), Andhra Pradesh reported only 8 Covid-19 cases.

During the Lockdown 1.0 (March 25 to April 14, 21 days), Andhra Pradesh reported 495 Covid-19 cases while a total of 1,147 cases were reported during the Lockdown 2.0 (April 15 to May 3).

In the Lockdown 3.0 (May 4 to May 17), 782 cases were reported in the state in 14-day period while a total of 1,244 cases were reported during the Lockdown 4.0 (May 18-May 31, 14 days), taking the total cases load to 3,676 in the state.

In Unlock 1.0 (June 1-June 20), a total of 4,776 Covid-19 cases were reported in the state taking the total tally to 8,452 cases.

AP reported its first death due to Covid-19 on April 3. The deceased was a 55-year-old and hailing from Kummaripalem in Vijayawada city.

With regard to the death toll, Andhra Pradesh reported a total of 62 deaths due to Coronavirus in between April 3 and May 31 (till the end of Lockdown 4.0) while 43 deaths were reported due to Covid-19 in between June 1 and June 20 (during Unlock 1.0).

Kurnool district reported the maximum Covid-19 cases (1,247 cases) and it figured along with Krishna district in recording 33 deaths each due to Covid-19 in the state.
