45,000 Saudi Riyal seized from Hyderabad man at RGI airport

Hyderabad: CISF personnel at RGI airport on Monday intercepted an air passenger and detected foreign currency he was carrying illegally. The man who was scheduled to take a flight bound to Abu Dhabi, was carrying 45,000 Saudi Riyals equivalent to around Rs 8,58 lakh in Indian value. The passenger identified as Habeeb Ali Alkaf along with the seized currency was handed over to Customs officials for further investigation into the case.

On Sunday night around 7.30, Habeeb a resident of Hyderabad had arrived at the airport. He was to board an Etihad flight no EY 0277 and was carrying a carton box with him.

Based on passenger profiling, he was sent for X-ray screening. During screening sub-inspector, Sonu Sharma screened his baggage and found suspicious material in it. Upon physical check, 45,000 Saudi Riyals were found concealed in the carton box. As he could not produce any valid documents related to the currency, he was detained, and the cash was seized.
