VISAKHAPATNAM : The officials of Police and Prohibition and Excise departments seized over 580 kgs of dry ganja worth over Rs60 lakh in two separate cases and arrested 10 persons for transporting the contraband on Monday night. In the first case, the KD Peta police seized 398 kgs of dry ganja and nabbed three persons when the trio was transporting the weed in a Eicher Van (Goods Carrier) near Alluri Park at KD Peta in Vizag district. The Sub-Inspector of Police Ch Bheema Raju said that based on specific information they intercepted the vehicle and seized the dry ganja. The arrested were identified as Pankaj, Salman and Teesrath, all are native of Uttar Pradesh.
The prohibition and excise officials seized over 180 kgs of dry ganja and nabbed seven persons when the smugglers were transporting the ganja in three cars from parts of Pedabayalu and Munchingiput of tribal pockets to Vizag city. The officials said that the smugglers were caught near Chodavaram in Vizag district and the ganja smugglers were native of Paderu and Munchingiput.
The officials said that they would nab some more persons in connection with the case as they got some clues about the involvement of few others in the two cases.
