60-year-old arrested for attempting to rape nine-year-old girl in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for attempting to rape a nine-year-old girl in a washroom at Mistry Nagar in Jagathgirigutta.
Identified as Babu Miya, he has been sent to police remand on Sunday. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when the victim’s mother had gone for a morning walk and her father was asleep.
Sources said Babu Miya allegedly took the victim to a common bathroom of the building and tried to rape her. However, her mother immediately rushed and saved her daughter.
Sources said after noticing that the girl was alone, the accused dragged her into the common bathroom and tried to rape her. Luckily her mother returned home and noticed suspicious activity near the bathroom. When she approached the bathroom, she heard her daughter’s screams. When she opened the door she found Babu Miya inside. She immediately alerted her husband and other residents in the building.
People immediately overpowered Babu Miya and handed him over to the police. Police have registered a case of rape and slapped POCSO act on the accused. The girl was sent for a medical examination.
